Revlon supported J Mendel for their A/W ‘13 showat New York Fashion Week, where Revlon Global Artistic Director, Gucci Westman focused on striking eyes.

WHO: Revlon Global Artistic Director, Gucci Westman, backstage at J Mendel

WHAT: Guccipaired copper eyes with fresh and brick tinted, natural lips for J Mendel’s A/W 2013 collection.

“The J. Mendel collection reminded me of the rich, saturated tones of fashion photographer Norman Parkinson’s print. I wanted to bring out this sophisticated palate by creating a complementary look that is both simple and luxurious. The copper eyes have a glossy sheen, while the skin remains dewy and flawless.”

Victoria Beckham was, of course, my favourite NYFW show this season.

For me, it’s not just about the threads that march down the runway, it’s also about the hair and make-up. VB complemented the mannish silhouette of her A/W collection with a fresh, modern look that still said ‘luxury’.

Hairstylist Guido Palau, who led the team backstage, used Babyliss PRO styling tools to create the simplistic look. To complement the collection, Guido created a sexy, modern style that flowed with ease and simplicity (perfect for a busy, cash-rich mum on the move).

Guido used the Babyliss PRO Volare Hairdryer (£100) and used his fingers instead of a brush to create a straight finish with texture.

He said: “The Volare hairdryer is super fast. It has an extremely powerful motor, drying the hair so quickly so it’s less damaging.” And, in my opinion, perfect for the mayhem of backstage.

He then pulled the hair into a ponytail leaving pieces loose around the face, some with the ear poking out.

Guido said: “The Victoria Beckham women is sexy and sophisticated. The clothes are so designed and very luxurious so the hair had to be fresh and modern, thought-about ease.”

Consider this my new look.

London Fashion Week is just around the corner. Check out this Feb 2011 interview by the Telegraph’s Hilary Alexander with Anna Wintour. She has a way with words. In fact, they both do.
