American actress Amber Heard is the cover star of Net-A-Porter’s latest edition of its online luxury magazine, The Edit.
Aside from the Johnny Depp references and the glorious old Hollywood style fashion shots, I picked this line out of the interview as stand-out inspiration.
“I was just curious and hungry, and had nothing to lose. I come from the middle of nowhere and grew up with nothing.”
It doesn’t matter where you come from or what your background is. If you have passion and believe in yourself, you can do and go anywhere.

Meet the new ‘leading ladies’ of Marks & Spencer’s A/W campaign. Shot by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz, the shoot features some of the UK’s highest fliers, from US Vogue creative director Grace Coddington, actress Helen Mirren, super Karen Elson and singer Ellie Goulding.
I can’t really focus on anything apart from Karen’s blush pink coat - a must-own piece for the impending A/W season.
Patrick Bousquet-Chavanne, Executive Director Marketing and Business Development at M&S said of the campaign image: “We wanted this campaign to signal a new and confident tone of voice to introduce Autumn. Annie was the perfect choice to shoot a campaign of this magnitude. Her unmistakable, signature style, with its truly dramatic aesthetic was exactly what we needed to communicate the essence of the campaign and of the new M&S. Annie’s photography has become synonymous with defining key moments in the history of brands over the years and, as such, we feel that this campaign is the ideal way to illustrate M&S’ move into a new era.”
I have no doubt Belinda Earl, the new style director at M&S, will be extremely happy with the outcome. Here’s hoping it helps to shift the new designs.
